The first Brazil-Australia Higher Education Forum was held in Brasilia on 9-10 June 2015 and brought together 50 participants from Australia and Brazil.
Australia was represented by a senior delegation led by Universities Australia Chief Executive Belinda Robinson and which included six deputy vice-chancellors. The forum resulted in a number of concrete actions that will further advance and deepen higher education and research engagement between the two countries.
The forum allowed participants to explore opportunities for institutional cooperation; collaborative research projects; and student, academic and staff exchanges. Discussions focused on three main themes: mobility, industry engagement, and research and research training.
The two-day forum was a joint initiative by Universities Australia, the Council of Brazilian University Rectors and the Department of Education at the Australian Embassy in Brazil. The forum was facilitated by Professor Paulo de Souza from CSIRO. The forum outcomes will be released in a outcomes report shortly.
