On Tuesday 7 November the Minister for Education and Training, Senator the Hon Simon Birmingham announced the outcomes of the Australian Government’s Australia Awards–Endeavour Scholarships and Fellowships and Endeavour Mobility Grants for 2018.
In 2018, the Endeavour Scholarships and Fellowships and Endeavour Mobility Grants will offer support to over 3,400 recipients to undertake study, research and professional development overseas and in Australia.
The Australian Government’s Australia Awards–Endeavour Scholarships and Fellowships and Endeavour Mobility Grants support two-way engagement between Australia and the rest of the world. The scholarships and grants provide life changing opportunities for Australian and overseas students and professionals to access learning and research opportunities globally.
Dr Bindi Bennett, for example, received a research fellowship for Indigenous Australians and will undertake her program in the United States as part of her post-doctoral research into the use of equine therapy by social workers to address mental health issues with their patients.
Dr Kate Markey received the Endeavour Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Scholarship. Kate will undertake post-doctoral research in New York focusing on the microbiome of the gastrointestinal tract and its effects on bone marrow transplants.
Under Endeavour Mobility Grants sixty-two tertiary institutions will be offered funding to support students to participate in projects at 66 locations around the world. This funding will help inject real world practical study experience into student’s qualifications, and will assist them in developing new skills and perspectives.
Applications for the 2019 Endeavour Scholarships and Fellowships and Endeavour Mobility Grants rounds are expected to open in April 2018.
