A delegation of senior education officers from Vietnam, Cambodia and Laos visited to learn more about Australia’s Industry Skills Council model. The delegation included four officers from Vietnam, two officers from Cambodia and two officers from Laos.
This joint delegation attended the Food Services Australia Awards before travelling to Canberra for a policy briefing on Australia’s Vocational Education and Training (VET) system including the strong linkages between institutions and industry. They then visited a number of Industry Skills Councils (ISCs) in Canberra, Melbourne and Sydney including Agrifood Skills Australia, the Construction and Property Services Industry Council, ForestWork Industry Skills Council, the Transport and Logistics Industry Skills Council, Service Skills Australia and Manufacturing Skills Australia.
Feedback from the delegation was that the visit was very informative and the inclusion of three countries from the same region was an excellent way to build stronger relationships within the region.
The interest in the ISC model will be further supported by an ISC colloquium in Vietnam later this year where some ISCs will be invited to present to a broader audience of VET specialists from Vietnam, Cambodia and Laos.
