International education strategy for the United States

Page Content
In November 2012 the United States Department of Education released its first ever International Strategy 2012 - 2016, Succeeding Globally through International Education and Engagement.

The strategy is designed to strengthen US education and advance its international priorities. It aims to promote the value and necessity of a world-class education, including global competencies for all students; international benchmarking and applying lessons learned from other countries; and education diplomacy and engagement.

Initial public commentary notes that while the strategy offers few specifics on how it plans to achieve these goals, it is a positive signal that the Department recognises this is important.

Succeeding Globally through International Education and Engagement is available for download from the website of the US Department of Education.
