The Australian Embassy in Japan congratulates the 50 high performing Australian teachers on the completion of their intensive language training in Japan. The teachers have been in Osaka to improve their Japanese language and cultural skills through a three-week intensive study program.
The group includes both experienced teachers and trainee teachers from across Australia, who were awarded a language teaching fellowship under the prestigious Endeavour Awards. The language exposure gained through the study program helps teachers enhance their classroom teaching, and Japanese is the most popular language at Australian schools.
All Australian Governments support language education and have committed to a target of at least 12 per cent of all students finishing school with a fluency in Japanese or one of the other target Asian languages by 2020. The study program is funded by the Australian Government.
