Each year, AEI Beijing produces an analysis of student visa applications lodged by Chinese citizens offshore, based on data supplied by DIAC.  The dataset does not exactly match that used to compile DIAC's official published statistics, but the match is close enough for analytical purposes.  AEI has provided a set of tables which list the number of applications lodged by students from each Province/Municipality in China in 2009-10, and numbers from the major cities in each Province.
