Australia’s Tuition Protection Service is a leading placement and refund service for international students studying and training in Australia.
The collection of the 2013 Levy is currently underway after the TPS Director conducted a series of information sessions for providers in February.
The TPS Levy will be paid by some 1200 registered providers of education and training to overseas students by the end of April 2013.
The TPS is an initiative of the Australian Government to assist international students whose education providers are unable to fully deliver their course of study. The TPS ensures that international students are able to either complete their studies in another course or with another education provider or receive a refund of their unspent tuition fees.
As TPS Director, Mr Mahajan made the legislative instrument based on advice and recommendations received from the TPS Advisory Board which is chaired by Mr Peter Hughes. Mr Mahajan also undertook consultations with the sector and received expert advice in finalising the legislative instrument.
The TPS Levy underpins the protections provided to overseas students studying and training in Australia.
