Australia – Educating Globally (Chaney Report)

Page Content

On Wednesday 27 February 2013, the International Education Advisory Council’s report – Australia – Educating Globally (pdf, rtf) was released.

The report includes 35 recommendations addressing seven key issues facing Australia’s international education sector: coordination; quality; a positive student experience; partnerships; ensuring the integrity of Australia’s student visa program; data analysis and research in international education; and competition, promotion and marketing.

Consultation process

The International Education Advisory Council released a discussion paper on 24 April 2012.

The discussion paper was part of the Council’s process to gain feedback from stakeholders on the challenges and opportunities facing the international education sector in Australia.

The discussion paper outlined key factors that have influenced international education in Australia and around the world, proposed some broad directions that could form the basis of a national strategy, and posed some discussion points under each direction to tease out debate.

Following the release of the discussion paper, the Chair of the Council also led a series of face-to-face consultation sessions across Australia.
