The Endeavour Awards, part of the Australia Awards initiative, is the Government’s international, merit-based scholarship program providing life and career changing opportunities for recipients around the world. A total of 3458 individuals have benefited from an Endeavour Award in the past 5 years, including 2810 overseas recipients who have come to Australia to undertake study, research or professional development and 648 Australians who have undertaken an Award overseas.
Each year, Endeavour Award Holders and Alumni are invited to attend Endeavour Awards Professional Development Workshops and Receptions in capital cities around Australia. The 2012 workshops were presented by three experienced and inspiring speakers, expert in leadership and resilience. The workshops were attended by a record number of Award Holders and Alumni, over 680 in total.
Themed on resilience and leadership, the workshops aimed to equip Award Holders and Alumni with the tools and resources to enable them to reach their full potential in their Award programs and future studies and careers.
In Sydney and Brisbane, Sam Cawthorn, a thought leader and expert in not only bouncing back, but bouncing forward, presented dynamic workshops on the theme of resilience. Peter Baines presented leadership workshops in Canberra and Melbourne, using examples from his experience leading teams responding to acts of terrorism or natural disasters in the Asia Pacific region. In Adelaide and Perth, Rachael Robertson shared the leadership insights she gathered from the unique experience of leading a 12 month expedition to Davis Station in Antarctica.
Following the workshops, Award Holders and Alumni mingled with guests from academia, business and government at the reception. Endeavour Awards Alumni spoke about their Award experience and the personal and professional benefits they gained. Their stories inspired both current Award Holders and those about to embark on their Award program overseas to make the most of each opportunity.
The 2013 round for the Endeavour Awards opened on 1 April 2012 and will close on 30 June 2012. For further information, visit the
