AEI builds cooperative relationships with governments across the world to promote greater harmonisation of education systems, encourage greater movement of students and staff, promote institutional and academic links, and to advance the worldwide development of improved educational quality.

International relationships

AEI advances Australia’s education interests and influence internationally through government-to-government activity in:

  • free trade agreements (FTAs) that create opportunities for Australian education exporters to expand into new markets
  • bilateral education relationships, particularly through formal agreements such as Memoranda of Understanding and Mutual Recognition Arrangements
  • a range of international organisations.
