2012 SHEEO Conference USA

The 2012 Higher Education Policy Conference of the State Higher Education Executive Officers (SHEEO) featured a who’s who with presentations by US Secretary of Education, Arne Duncan; Under Secretary of Education, Martha Kanter; CEO of the American Association of Community Colleges, Walter Bumphus; CEO of the Lumina Foundation, Jamie Merisotis, and; former US Secretary of Education, Margaret Spellings.
 
Reports of note included:
  • Margaret Spellings and the US Chamber of Commerce on Leaders and Laggards - a report on state progress in higher education
  • Walter Bumphus, CEO of AACC on Reclaiming the Dream -  a report on the 21st Century Initiative
  • Jamie Merisotis, CEO of the Lumina Foundation on A Vital New Role to Reach a Shared Goal - a report calling for a new student-centred higher education system by creating new national credentialing and student finance systems.
