Australian alumni excellence in Nepal

Page Content
On 5 December, DIISRTE, Austrade, AusAID and DFAT held a major alumni function in Nepal to celebrate the Australia Future Unlimited: Alumni Excellence Awards 2012.  Around 200 people attended the event, with Mr Suresh Man Shreshtha, Secretary, Nepal Ministry of Education, as the guest of honour.

Ms Sophiya Uprety received the AEI Endeavour Alumni Excellence Award for her work with the Nepal Government in developing national plans, policies, strategies and guidelines for nutrition and health.  Ms Uprety received an Endeavour Postgraduate Award in 2008 to pursue her Masters of Public Health at Deakin University.

The award ceremony recognised Australian alumni who had applied their skills and knowledge acquired in Australia to attain exemplary achievements in their relevant field of expertise at a national, regional or international level.  The event showcased the quality of Australian education and training and the global career opportunities it presents.
