The Minister for Tertiary Education, Skills, Jobs and Workplace Relations, Senator Chris Evans and the Indian Minister for Human Resource Development, Hon Kapil Sabil held a joint media conference to discuss the education relationship between the two countries on 1 August 2011.

The Ministers noted the similar issues both countries are facing and the importance of strengthening exchanges between the two countries.

Senator Evans is attending the first meeting of the Australia-India Education Council while visiting India. The Australian delegation will meet with a number of stakeholders to facilitate better learning outcomes and build strong links with people and institutions.
