Student Mobility Programs

Page Content

Applications for the 2014 round of international student mobility programs will be opening soon.

The Australian Government’s general student mobility programs are a great opportunity for educational institutions to support study experiences overseas for Australian students. A new round of mobility programs is expected to open soon. Funding is available for the Asia-Pacific region, Europe, the Americas and the Middle East.

Student mobility programs continue to operate alongside the new AsiaBound Grants Program for which providers have already submitted proposals. The programs provide students with a range of opportunities to expand their international learning experiences

The three general student mobility programs include:

The International Student Exchange Program (ISEP), which aims to strengthen institutional links between overseas and Australian higher education providers and provides subsidies of $5,000 per student to participate in an overseas study experience. ISEP also provides opportunities for students from partner institutions overseas to come to Australia to study.

The ISEP program incorporates the Endeavour Cheung Kong Student Exchange Program (ECKSEP) which is jointly funded by the Australian Government and Cheung Kong Holdings Limited. This partnership supports student exchange between Australia and certain destinations in Asia.

The Study Overseas Short-term Mobility Program (STMP) provides subsidies of $2,000 for higher education students to undertake a range of study experiences of up to 6 months duration including short courses, internships, clinical placements and practicums.

The Vocational Education and Training Outbound Mobility Program, or ‘VET Outbound’ Program, provides subsidies of $2,000 each for eligible Australian VET students to undertake a range of overseas study experience of up to 6 months duration, similar to those available in STMP.

Full details of the programs are outlined in the program guidelines which will be published with the opening of each round.
