Tropical cyclone Yasi

Tropical cyclone Yasi was declared on 30 January 2011 and made landfall at 1am AEDT on Thursday 3 February 2011.

No current cyclones are listed on the Bureau of Meteorology website for Australia.

Information for international students

While ex‑tropical cyclone Yasi has moved further west, the cleanup of debris is underway in Queensland.

Visit the Queensland Government Natural Disasters website for a list of closed schools and TAFE campuses.

Students due to travel to North Queensland should:

  • keep in contact with their education provider
  • follow advice from their local emergency services and police
  • visit the Queensland Government website for disaster response information.
