Recognition of Medical Degrees in Malaysia

Page Content

2 April 2012

The Malaysian Medical Council (MMC) recently updated procedures for recognition of medical degrees from foreign universities.

Foreign universities with existing recognition of their medical programs will continue to do so until the expiry date of their approval. These universities are required to write to MMC to accommodate existing students currently undergoing their medical program. Universities keen to maintain their recognition status (upon expiry) will need to write to MMC and request an evaluation visit by MMC.

For Australian universities seeking recognition for new medical programs will need to have an affiliation with a Malaysian education institution offering medical programs.
