27 June 2011

On 21–24 June 2011 the Department of Education, Employment and Workplace Relations (DEEWR) hosted a visit by Ambassador Mario Chacón and Mr Alejandro Miranda from the Mexican Secretaría de Educación Pública (Ministry of Public Education).

The visit represented an opportunity to strengthen bilateral relations and to discuss the formation of the Australia–Mexico Education and Training Committee, a government-to-government body that will promote cooperation between the two countries.

Ambassador Chacón and Mr Miranda also met with representatives of the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade, and the Department of Innovation, Industry, Science and Research to discuss areas of mutual interest. The delegation also met with senior staff from the Australian National University, the University of Canberra and Universities Australia.
