Australian medals at the WorldSkills Competition in Sao Paulo, Brazil
The 2015 edition of the WorldSkills Competition was held in Sao Paulo, Brazil on 12-15 August 2015. Held every two years, the WorldSkills Competition is the world's biggest vocational education and skills showcase. This was the 43d edition of the competition, but the first time it had been held in South America.
Australia was represented by the Skillaroos who were up against tough competition from 59 countries and regions around the world including China, Germany, Japan, New Zealand, Russia and the United States. The event had approximately 1,200 participants, all which had to be 22 years old or younger.
The competition was organised into six main categories: Construction and Building Technology, Creative Arts and Fashion, Information and Communication Technology, Manufacturing and Engineering Technology, Social and Personal Services, and Transportation and Logistics.
These categories were divided into a total of 50 events with the Skillaroos fielding competitors in 23.
After four days of gruelling competition, the Australians were awarded five medals.

The next WorldSkills Competition will be held in Abu Dhabi in 2017.
