MOUs signed with Brazil and Chile

Page Content

Two new MOUs were signed with Chile and Brazil in the fields of Education, Research and Vocational Education and Training during Foreign Minister Bishop’s visit to Latin America in July 2015.

Brazil and Chile are both countries of strategic importance to Australia and the signing of the MOUs formalised the relationship between the Australian Department of Education and Training and its Latin American counterparts.

The MOUs will open up opportunities for government to government cooperation in areas such as standards and policy, teaching and curriculum development, and the interpretation and evaluation of degrees and diplomas.

These agreements build on the increasing cooperation and exchange between Australia and Latin America. Latin American student enrolments in Australia are currently growing by more than 25% annually and the number of university agreements has increased rapidly in the last few years. Through these MOUs the Australian Government will be better placed to continue to support the exchange of knowledge, research and the mobility of researchers, academics and students.
