Korea University International Winter Campus a growing success with Australian students

Page Content

Korea University is one of the top universities in Korea, and their 3-week International Winter Campus program allows students to study courses, participate in cultural activities and earn credits.  This year more than 740 students from 30 different universities and 38 countries participated in the program.

Australian students have shown a high level of interest in the winter program since its establishment by Korea University in 2017. This year 174 students from 14 Australian universities (a third of which were funded by the New Colombo Plan) participated in the program, forming the largest group in the program.

On 17 January, Seoul Post accompanied the Australian Ambassador, Mr James Choi, to Korea University to participate in the Korea University International Winter Campus closing ceremony, marking the end of the 3-week program.

Given the active participation from the Australian side, Ambassador James Choi was invited as a guest of honour to congratulate students on the successful completion of the program and also to present awards to two Australian students on their outstanding achievement.

The education section at the Seoul post continues to support Australia’s engagement with Korean universities to strengthen institution-to-institution partnerships. The level of interest between the two countries appears to be growing in recent years – this case being a great example.
