Australian bushfires update for international students

Page Content

The Minister for Education, the Hon Dan Tehan MP, chaired a meeting of international education stakeholders on Tuesday 21 January 2020 in Melbourne. Stakeholders received a detailed update from the Minister on the current bushfire crisis and how the government is responding. The meeting also provided an effective platform for stakeholders to inform the Minister of the impacts the bushfire crisis has had on the reputation of the Australian international education sector to date and potential impacts it may have into the future.

At the meeting, Minister Tehan agreed to set up a taskforce to consider these issues further.

More information on the taskforce will be provided shortly but in the meantime, straight after the roundtable the Minister released the video below to reassure international students that the sector remains open for business.
