Earthquake and tsunami in Japan

Page Content
18 March 2011

Australians are advised to monitor the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade’s (DFAT) travel advice for Japan for further information and updates regarding the situation in Japan.

Australians in affected areas should follow the instructions of local authorities and check the media for safety information. If further assistance is required, Australians should contact the DFAT directly on +61 2 6261 3305.

All indications are that Australian education providers and institutions are responding positively to requests from Japanese students for help.

All Australian students currently studying in Japan are encouraged to register their details on the DFAT website so that the department can contact you in the case of an emergency.

Advice will also be posted on Australian Education International’s website as it becomes available.

Earthquake advice, including Survival Kit, is available at the Tokyo International Communication Committee website.
