On 22 April 2011 the Australian Prime Minister, the Hon Julia Gillard MP, announced a package of educational support for Japan.
The package includes a new one-off Program of Assistance for Educational Exchange for two-way travel between Japan and Australia on short-term study or academic and professional exchange. It also includes an ongoing program designating 10 Endeavour Awards annually for Japan.
