2013 Project Director's Conference

Page Content
In March 2013, for the first time Australia hosted the annual gathering of global academic leaders of joint mobility projects and joint/dual degrees undertaken with the European Union (EU).

The 2013 Project Directors’ Conference was held at RMIT University from 4 to 6 March, and was attended by around 100 delegates from Australia, New Zealand, Europe, South Korea and the USA. The purpose of the conference is for project directors involved in EU bilateral joint cooperation mobility projects and joint/dual degrees to meet and discuss the successes and challenges of the program.

The conference was opened by Mr Xavier Prats Monné, the European Commission’s Deputy Director General, Education and Culture, and included plenary presentations by European Commission officials focussed on the future directions of the program and broader education-related mobility initiatives. Professor Bruce Wilson, Director of the European Union Centre at RMIT University hosted the event over the two and a half days. The program also involved parallel workshops sessions targeting specific challenges for the projects. Delegates were welcomed to the conference by a smoking ceremony performed by a traditional owner from the Wurundjeri nation.
