The Hon Phil Honeywood
CEO, International Education Association of Australia (IEAA)
 
Mr Honeywood has been CEO of the International Education Association of Australia (IEAA) since November 2011. IEAA is a not-for-profit peak body that represents all sectors of international education in Australia. Mr Honeywood brings extensive experience in international education. This includes significant experience on education boards, including the Victorian Government International Education Advisory Committee, the StudyNSW International Education Advisory Board, the Higher Education Standards Panel and the New Colombo Plan Steering Group.

Mr Honeywood was the Member for Warrandyte in the Victorian State Parliament from 1988 to 2006. During this period he served as Deputy Leader of the Opposition (2002 to 2006), Minister for Tertiary Education, Training and Multicultural Affairs (1996 to 1999) and as Parliamentary Secretary to the Premier (1992 to 1996). From 2009 to 2011, Mr Honeywood was CEO of Cambridge International College.


Professor Helen Bartlett

Vice Chancellor and President, University of the Sunshine Coast
 
Professor Helen Bartlett commenced as the third Vice-Chancellor and President of the University of the Sunshine Coast (USC) on 17 August 2020.

Prior to joining USC, Professor Bartlett was Vice-Chancellor and President of Federation University Australia from 2017 to 2020, Pro Vice-Chancellor and Chief Executive of Monash University Malaysia from 2013 to 2017,

Professor Bartlett attained a Bachelor of Arts at Northumbria University, a Master of Science (Public Policy) and a PhD from the University of Bath. A research specialist in health and aged care, Professor Bartlett's career includes inaugural Director at the Australasian Centre on Ageing at the University of Queensland, the Oxford Centre for Health Care Research and Development and the Oxford Dementia Centre at Oxford Brookes University.

Professor Bartlett was conferred as an Emeritus Professor at Monash University in 2017. She is the current Chair of the Regional Universities Network, an Expert Member of the Australian Government Council for International Education, and also a member of the Australian Government's National Priorities and Industry Linkage Fund Working Group.

​Professor Linda Kristjanson AO
Vice Chancellor, Swinburne University

Professor Kristjanson is the former Vice-Chancellor of Swinburne University of Technology. Professor Kristjanson is a Fellow of the Australian Institute of Company Directors and Australian Academy of Technology & Engineering.  Professor Kristjanson Chairs the Board of the Victorian Comprehensive Cancer Centre and is a non-Executive Director of The Conversation, Education Australia Ltd., Global Citizen Australia, Skalata Ventures Ltd, and the Mineral Exploration CRC. In 2017, Professor Kristjanson was made an Officer of the Order of Australia, in honour of distinguished service to tertiary education through leadership and governance roles, strategic and innovative university reforms, contributions to cancer research and palliative care, and to women.

​Professor Heather Cavanagh
Deputy Vice Chancellor, Research and Engagement, Charles Sturt University.

Professor Cavanagh has a long history in developing and supporting International Education at CSU having held positions of Sub Dean International, Associate Dean (Deputy Dean) and Acting Executive Dean of Science prior to her appointment as the inaugural Pro-Vice Chancellor (International Education and Partnerships).  Over many years Professor Cavanagh has been instrumental in leading and developing off-shore programs, developing and maintaining strong relationships with international institutions and developing partnerships and pathways for domestic and international students.  Professor Cavanagh has overseen a dramatic increase in student mobility, successfully internationalised curriculum at both course and subject level, developed successful articulation pathways from strategic partners and facilitated international accreditation.   Professor Cavanagh has facilitated the development of productive research partnerships resulting in joint funding, publications and staff exchange in Europe, North America and Asia

​Professor Michael Wesley
Deputy Vice-Chancellor (International), The University of Melbourne


Michael Wesley is Deputy Vice-Chancellor International at the University of Melbourne. Previously he was Dean of the College of Asia and the Pacific at the Australian National University. He has worked at the University of New South Wales and Griffith University; was Assistant Director-General for Transnational Issues at the Office of National Assessments; and Executive Director of the Lowy Institute for International Policy. He is a Board Member of China Matters. His book, There Goes the Neighbourhood: Australia and the Rise of Asia won the 2011 John Button Prize for the best writing on Australian politics and public policy. His most recent book is Restless Continent: Wealth, Rivalry and Asia’s New Geopolitics.

​ ​Belle Lim
President, Council of International Students Australia (CISA)

Originally from Malaysia, Belle is currently completing a PhD in cancer research at Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre and Monash University. Belle obtained her Bachelor’s (Honours) degree in Pharmaceutical Sciences as recipient of Faculty Gold Medal and International Merit Scholarship in 2017.

Belle received the prestigious Victorian Premier Award as International Student of the Year in 2019. In November of that year, she represented Malaysia in the UNSECO Youth Forum in Paris

​ ​Malcolm Baigent
Executive General Manager, University Partnerships Australasia, Navitas
 
Malcolm has over fifteen years’ experience working in the higher education sector. He has developed knowledge and expertise working in senior management roles, in a diverse range of functions that include HR, Finance, Faculty Management, Business Development and International Education. Malcolm has worked in both the public and private sectors and is currently employed by Navitas, a leading global private education provider.

​Janelle Chapman
Executive Director, TAFE Queensland International

Janelle oversees all international business activities for TAFE Queensland, the largest VET provider in Queensland. With 30 years of experience working in Vocational Education and Training, predominantly within international, Janelle has always been a strong advocate for the industry. She has also held positions within the school international education sector and in ELICOS.  Janelle’s team is located throughout Queensland and also in nine markets offshore. 


Janelle’s vast experience within this sector includes classroom delivery, student recruitment, developing articulation pathways to universities, project management for offshore partnerships and business development which has all contributed to a comprehensive understanding of the industry at both the operational and strategic level.


As a testament to Janelle’s commitment to the Australian international education and training system, she is an active member of a number of boards and committees at both the National and State level.  These include TAFE Director Australia’s - Australian TAFE International Network, IEAA, IST Advisory Group, Austrade, ATIN, EVCC (former), QLD Regional Communities of Practice, AIEC Steering Committee (2018 & 2019) and Study QLD Positioning Committee.
Since 2013, Janelle has been a Board member of the International Education Association of Australia, and served as the Association’s Vice President from October 2015 to October 2016.  As IEAA is the peak body which represents all four sectors of Australia’s international education industry, Janelle is proud to be a part of this association.  She was elected IEAA President’s in November 2020.

​ ​Karyn Kent
CEO, StudyAdelaide

Karyn has been CEO of StudyAdelaide since 2014. StudyAdelaide was established in 1998 and markets Adelaide as a centre of education excellence to prospective international students.
Previously, Karyn was the Regional Manager for South/South East Asia and Gulf countries at Tourism Australia. She also served various roles at the South Australian Commission, including General Manager for Trade & International Marketing, Regional Manager for New Zealand and Marketing Coordinator for the Americas.
Karyn is currently a board member of the Riverbank Authority Board of Management. In the past she has also served as a board member at the Australian Tourism Data Warehouse.
​ ​Kathleen Newcombe
CEO, Sarina Russo Group of Companies

Ms Newcombe has thirty years of experience in the higher education, vocational training and employment sectors in both Australia and the USA. She also spent three years in leadership roles in the insurance industry where she successfully managed a health insurance business catering to the international education sector. Kathleen is currently a Director of the International Education Association Australia (IEAA), Chair of the Icon Cancer Research Foundation and a member of the ACPET QLD State Committee.
​ ​Derek Scott
CEO and Principal, Haileybury

Derek has been Principal of Haileybury since December 2007. He is a Director of Haileybury International and the Chairman of Haileybury International School in China. Haileybury is the largest independent school in Australia, with four campuses in Victoria and a campus in Wuqing, China.
Derek has a strong focus on international engagement and curriculum development. He has worked on curriculum development for the Victorian Curriculum and Assessment Authority and is a published author on the issues of globalisation and international studies.
Derek is a board member of the International Education Association of Australia, the ADC Forum Education Council and the Monash University Education Advisory Board.
